Many times, we have made commitments to go to networking events and all of a sudden, we realize we are in a “mood”.
Maybe we feel like we just don’t want to be around people, or maybe we feel like “I’m not going to gain anything anyway – so why should I go?”
Yet, we made a commitment to be there, so now what do you do?
Shift your mood! Moods are easy to shift when you really think about it. We believe that “shifts” are necessary in business and it could stand for a:
Seriously
High
Intentional
Focus
Towards
Success.
See, we all need shifts in our lives. Each shift we make can bring us new opportunities, new discoveries, and of course new relationships.
The easiest way to get yourself out of a “mood” is to do something nice for someone else. Who is it that you can help? Maybe that’s your question for the event. “If there was a way that I could help you, what would that look like? This “give” not only makes you feel as if you have made a difference, but the other person will also remember your good deed and speak highly of you too!
This week your action is to “check your mood” before you go to a networking event. Are you ready to really “be present” with others, see how you can help them, and develop relationships? Do your best to set your intentions around helping others and watch your results!
Dr. Ivan Misner is quoted for saying “Networking is about helping others as a way of growing your business.”
Helping someone else and growing your business…that has to change your mood to a great one!
