For me there is nothing better than helping someone achieve something that will make their World better. Whether that’s in business or personal life it’s always nice to help a person be, do, or feel better, this is my Holy Grail.
This was a realisation I had ten years ago on a course I attended.
The theme of the course was “Why are you here, What were you put on this Planet to achieve?” At first I came up with high level stuff like “be happy”, “make a difference” etc. The person running the course then started to drill down into my answers and ask me questions such as “What does happiness mean for you?” “What type of difference are you here to make, and to whom?”. These questions really helped me gain clarity on my “why” and helped shaped the way I’ve operated in the World ever since.
The big thing I learned from that experience was the power of great questions, and I’m a firm believer in the quality of your life is directly attached to the quality of the questions you ask yourself and others. If you were to look at the definition of a question you may find something like this “a sentence worded or expressed so as to elicit information.” This definition undervalues how brilliant questions are when used effectively. At the start of the word question is the word “quest” and that’s exactly what a question is – a journey for information.
This is where you can be like Indiana Jones (or insert your adventurer of choice here) and discover a persons Holy Grail (or even your own, wouldn’t that be nice by the way) by asking really good questions to find out how you can help them. By being more “interested in people” rather than “interesting to people” you can help them in a much bigger way and like me if you believe in the power of reciprocity you will get all the things you desire by helping/making a difference to others.
So the next time you step out into your day make sure you put your adventurer clothes & hat on, go on a quest, and ask great questions when speaking to others and your Holy Grail will be reached.
Until next time
Happy adventuring.
